Mission Statement

Legislative & Regulatory

Our primary role is to serve as ally and advocate for the coatings industry on legislative, regulatory and judicial issues at the Federal, State and local levels.

Image Enhancement

Our purpose is to educate legislators, regulators, media, environmentalists and the public in effort to foster the notion that paint benefits society and that those who make and sell it contribute to the quality of life.

Membership

It is our goal to attract and retain members in the Association by providing education, networking and services that allow our members to obtain a competitive edge.

History

Where We've Been. Where We're Going.

We've made tremendous strides in the span of time since the CPCA was founded in 1887. Through the years, we've helped our association members gain a competitive edge through education, business-building services and networking. We've also opened opportunities for the coatings industry by enlightening and influencing federal, state and local legislators. Plus, we've educated environmentalists, lawmakers, members of the media and the general public about how paint and the coatings industry contribute to the quality of life in this country.

Many of our efforts have lead to advancements in manufacturing, improvements in efficiency and higher standards of quality control. We've always been heavily involved in consumer protection issues, labeling guidelines and plant safety standards.

Our dedication to continuing research has led to coatings that go on easily, clean up quickly and last longer. We take particular pride in our commitment to neighborhood improvement programs.

Our future promises more of the same, because our objective has not changed since we began over a century ago. As an Association, our goal is still to present a positive image of the industry in the Chicagoland area, and to do whatever is necessary for the good of the industry and the public, here and throughout the Chicagoland area.
